  1. Hey, after witnessing this phenomenal season, with records being broken and new bands having breaking seasons, what bands should we look out for next season, and do we have any expectations for the newest bands to break out?
  2. Just for fun! Attached is a decade in review workbook with links to the show videos. The file has 2010 through 2019 Texas Marching Bands with the top 5 BOA San Antonio and top 5 UIL for each year. Hope this gives you something to watch while we miss Concert and Guard season. Top 5 Texas UIL and SA BOA the decade in review 2010 through 2019 - 2011 fix.xlsx
  3. I haven't seen a thread about this but this can be the thread to discuss who might be coming to next years Grand National Championships. Here's a list of who might be coming from Texas. Bands Confirmed to be attending: Leander Round Rock Bands on a Rotation Year that will likely be attending: The Woodlands Bands highly likely to be attending but not confirmed: Hebron Vandegrift Bands rumored to be attending: Keller Claudia Taylor Johnson Vista Ridge
  4. I've noticed some 'extra'(not in a negative way) things bands are doing this year. Ex: - Ryan Reynolds endorsing James Bowie's band. (which was actually super cool, how did they do that) - CTJ's whataburger sponsorship on their front drop. #Whataband - Vandegrift's amazing drumline being feat. on flomarching - FloMo's flags this year has the bands of America logo Thoughts?
  5. I thought it would be interesting to hear about or see shows from the past that didn't make B.O.A. Super Regional for whatever reason that had potential to finish well in prelims or even make finals but never came to fruition. Tell us your story and post a video or link if you're able. I'll start it off with Hendrickson's, "Lost" in 2015. Performed in exhibition before finals in place of the Bobcat show (they were flooded and couldn't make it to S.A.) "What if" this show had been allowed to compete in prelims? Props to the 2015 Round Rock Dragon Band for their support that night and the friendliest rivalry in Central Texas.
  6. Okay, I know it's early, but I'm already getting excited about the Grand Nationals for 2015! I'm curious about which bands from Texas will be going. So far, I have heard from direct sources that both Round Rock and Cedar Ridge are going again. That's 2 so far. I've heard from a source in Indianapolis that also Bowie, CTJ, and The Woodlands may be attending. That would make 5 if that rumor is true. I'm guessing that there may be others, maybe Marcus, LD Bell, and maybe even Hebron. And there could be others! If we have 7 or more of our top Texas bands go to the Grand Nationals, this could be the most brutal and the most competitive BOA Grand Nationals of all time. I think real history could be made this year if this happens. If you have any information on any of our bands that will be attending, please let us know!
  7. Why not? Flower Mound has told its students and parents that it will attend in 2017. Anyone else confirmed (or even rumored)?
  8. BOA has posted the initial participant lists for the fall contests. In several cases, it states that there are more bands listed than there are slots and some will go on the waitlist. San Antonio has 70+ listed right now. Grand Nats is loaded – wow. 10. I just saw the list of bands currently signed up for the 2014 Grand Nationals. So far, only 1 Texas band is going -- Flower Mound HS. It's been a while since we only had 1 participant. 11. There are some exciting new activities and events coming out of DCI this summer, one of those being Drumline Battle. We are lucky enough to have 2 of those events in Texas this summer! The Dallas event will be on the Southlake Town Square, June 16th. Check out the event page for more info. http://www.crossmen.org/drumlinebattle
  12. I figure that since all three of the early regionals are done, we might as well start looking ahead. BOA SA is only a few weeks away, and there's a good chance people won't see many of the bands again until they see the finished (or mostly finished) products at San Antonio. Here are the participants as of 10/03. A total of SIXTY-FIVE bands have signed up, including all of the heavy hitters in the state of Texas, as well as Blue Springs from Missouri, who is a very strong possibility for finals both here and at nationals (though I haven't seen their show this year). This is probably the largest regional ever and *maybe* the most competitive ever as well. Honestly, with the recent turn of events at BOA Allen, I have no idea what to expect. I'm gonna have to wait to see the on-demand videos from Allen, which will probably take until next week to upload! Participants as of 10/03 Aledo H.S., TX Alvin H.S., TX Anderson H.S., TX Azle H.S., TX Blue Springs H.S., MO Brazoswood H.S., TX Calallen H.S., TX Cedar Park H.S., TX Cedar Ridge H.S., TX Claudia Taylor Johnson H.S., TX Coppell H.S., TX Cy-Fair H.S., TX Dickinson H.S., TX Douglas MacArthur H.S., TX Flower Mound H.S., TX Floresville H.S., TX Grulla H.S., TX H.M.
