  1. This is their 5th in a row. Vandegrift won in 2013.
  2. The new Marcus head director is Jeff Jones, the current head director at North Mesquite. He has posted a letter on the North Mesquite band Facebook page announcing his new job.
  3. Yes, those are both the same school. Spring High school, which won the 5A state championship in 1992 and 1994 is in the same school district.
  4. There are a couple of errors - Westfield won 5 state championships in Class 5A (what is now 6A) - 1987, 1988, 1989, 1996 and 1998 Marcus has won 5 state championships as well in class 5A/6A- 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014 Flower Mound has won one state championship in class 6a - 2016
  5. For LD Bell I believe Youngblood wrote the drill from 98-04 then again in 07-08. 2005-2006 was just Myron Rosander.
  6. Wes Cartwright has never written the drill for LD Bell. From 2003-2011 he was the color guard director and overall designer. 2005-2006 the drill was written by Myron Rosander, 2007-2008 by Bryan Youngblood, 2009-2012 by Leon May. Since 2013 their drill has been written by Jaime Holly. I believe Marcus drill is written by Amanda Drinkwater, their head director.
  7. Actually their are other bands that already do the Varsity and JV marching band. Broken Arrow is actually two bands. The "JV band" is everyone and performs at football games and the Varisty is auditioned and competes in contests.
  8. For the record Churchill made finals at Grand Nationals in 1998, 1999, 2002 and 2006
  9. Cedar Ridge is actually competing at the California BOA regional
  10. Let me say that Marcus had a show designed to be extremely successful at UIL in 2006, 08, 10 and 12, and at state they were successful wining four straight state championships. Those same years at BOA San Antonio they came in 3rd in 2006, 2nd in 2008 and won the regional championship in 2010 and 2012 sweeping all captions. In 2012 winning by around 3 points. Marcus knows how to design a show to win UIL and BOA arguably better than any other band in class 5a, now 6a, over the last 8 years, with the only exception being LD Bell. Never count out Marcus on a state year in either BOA or UIL.
  11. Best 4a State Finals - 1999 1st Coppell 2nd Keller 3rd Grapevine 4th Fossil Ridge 5th Dickenson 6th Colleyville Heritage 7th Poteet I have never seen 4a bands at that level before. Those finalists in 1999 could have competed with 5a's and truly held their own. IMO 1999 was also Poteets best show and performance, and the fact that it came in 7th tells you something about how great all finalists were. On a side note in finals for the first and only time to date their was a 4 way tie for 4th place. Something else to note the next year Coppell, Keller, Grapevine, Fossil Ridge and Colleyville Heritage all moved up to 5a.
  12. Poteet did this last before Cedar Park. 2007 4a Marching Champs, and 2008 4a Honor Band
