  1. I resemble that remark! Had a blast with great friends and even better bands! Always a treat to spend time with you guys and visit the lovely (and warm) Lone Star State! Go Indiana!
  2. Testing the capabilities of this forum for someone... It's not cooperating. Also, why can't you delete your own post? Oh well. See you all in San Antonio!
  3. I'm pretty sure Pastiche was 2001 and Hemispheres was 2000. I think it's BRAIN though, not BRIAN.
  4. Ok, I need as much repertoire info on the following shows as you guys can give me. You can respond in here, or PM me or whatever floats your boat. I know Mike Bui will go to town on these. Thanks for your help in advance! Bel Air 2001 Bel Air 2003 - A Jubilation Suite Cedar Hill 2001 Cedar Park 2001 - Spring Suite Cedar Park 2002 - Artwork of the Mind Connally 2003 - Copland Variations Coronado 2001 Coronado 2004 - Music of the Day Cypress Falls 2002 - Locomotion Duncanville 2004 Hebron 2004 - Cognative Dissonance Holmes 1998 - The Firebird Lamar 2001 Langham Creek 2000 - The Dawn of the Modern Age Lopez 2000 - Metallic MacArthur 2004 - Out of the Blue Martin 2001 Midland Lee 1996 - Shostakovich Plano East 1998 - Blue Shades Seguin 2000 - Time Seguin 2004 - In Storm and Sunshine Spring 2001 - Modern Motion Spring 2002 - Grandscapes Spring 2003 - No Fear Spring 2005 - New Light The Woodlands 2002 - Genesis - The Creation of Color The Woodlands 2005 - Competition Waxahachie 2005 Westfield 2000 - Hemispheres Westfield 2001 - Pastiche Westlake 2002 - The Music of Mozart And, go!
  5. You may be in luck, because word is they're going to come afterall! It's going to depend on if they can raise enough money, and I have every bit of confidence that they can! We need them there to win AA, because otherwise I have no idea who'd win it...
  6. Nevermind, I didn't see Bui's latest blog. That's a shame they won't be able to come this year. I was looking forward to seeing them! Hopefully they'll be back next year or the year after.
  7. Did Stephen F. Austin pull out of Nationals?!? As of August 1st, they're no longer listed on the BOA Grand Nationals listing. Anyone down there in Texas familiar with this or is this just a mistake on BOA's part? Hoping for a quick response from someone in the know! Thanks!
  8. Lawrence Central, Avon, Center Grove, Homestead, Ben Davis, and Castle to name a few... Some interesting information... 2003 ISSMA Class A 1. Avon 2. Homestead 3. Center Grove 4. Lawrence Central 5. Carmel 2003 BOA Nationals Indiana Placings 3. Carmel 7. Avon 9. Center Grove 11. Lawrence Central 2004 ISSMA Class A 1. Avon 2. Lawrence Central 3. Ben Davis 4. Homestead 5. Castle 6. Carmel 2004 BOA Nationals Indiana Placings 1. Lawrence Central 3. Carmel 6. Avon 9. Ben Davis Of course, in 2005, Carmel decided to no longer participate in ISSMA. One could look at their lack of success in ISSMA and their subsequent success in BOA and assume they figured they were being "robbed" in ISSMA. In my own opinion, I believe they deserved their placings in ISSMA, as they had very sub-par performances, whereas after an additional 2-3 weeks of practice, they cleaned it up and had great runs in BOA. I'd feel pretty confident in saying that they could've easily won ISSMA Class A in 2005, as they were much cleaner early this past year than they were the two previous years, but we'll never know, and it looks like they won't be participating in ISSMA again for a while. Anyway, back to HashBrown's original question. Yes, there are plenty of bands that give them competition in Indiana, and as a spectator it saddens me that they feel the need to no longer compete against some of them, but I'm in no position to judge their decision.
  9. And threatening to take a dump on his front porch isn't a personal attack? You've done a decent job arguing your point, which I have no problem with. But you started your argument off in such a poor and childish way that from then on, it's been impossible for anyone to take you seriously. I respect your opinion about the guy, but next time try approaching it another way. Honestly, like you, I'm not that big a fan of Key Poulan. There have been a few shows of his that I've enjoyed, mostly done by Gibson Southern here in Indiana and I think his arrangements for Santa Clara have been outstanding, even if they aren't his own works. That's my opinion.

  12. I'll make an argument for Texas, if only to be fair. Since 2001, Texas bands have had an average Finals placing of 5.3 to Indiana's 6.8 (if I remember correctly), so on average the Texas bands place higher than the Indiana bands. Don't get me wrong, I love having Grand Nationals in Indiana every year, but I wouldn't be opposed to holding it in Texas once every couple years or so. It'd give me another chance to go down there (I've only been to Texas once). I'm excited about flying down for the Atlanta Super Regional on our off week between ISSMA State Finals and the BOA Indianapolis Regional. Atlanta sounds like it'll be a packed house this year. Sometime in the future I plan to go to the San Antonio Super Regional when I'm a little more financially secure.
