  1. Woo! I Love me some Shostakovich.
  2. From what I could tell watching it online.. Drumline: Marcus wins this. Guard: Although Broken Arrow and Bell have huge guards that are almost always extremely clean, my choice would have to go to Marian Catholic or the Woodlands. Execution wise, these two had overall the best technique from person to person and were pretty clean. But my real choice is the Woodlands. Great guard. Ballad: Marian Catholic. Opener: Bell. That opening statement is simply gorgeous. Out of openers it comes first to mind every time. GE: This one is really hard to decide because I have only seen 4 of those shows live. It would be between Bell and Avon. Closer: Marcus's Closer was pretty awesome in finals, but I can't neglect the Woodlands either. Music: On the technical + clean side is Marcus. Can't beat them there. However, in terms of music dynamically and how it was integrated into the show, definitely Bell. Visual: This is also a tough one to go off of when watching online. I would say Avon, although LD Bell didn't disappoint.
  3. I remembering people I know rolling their eyes when they saw LD Bell crying and whatnot when they won GNats in 07. There was a lot of animocity towards them for some reason. "Oh, it's all fake. They think they are the bomb-diggity." At the BOA Arlington Regional in '06, it was the first time my band had made finals at a BOA contest. Sure we ended up 10th in finals, but after we were dismissed, the very first people I met were the drum majors from Bell. They shook my hand and told me it was a real pleasure competing with a new competitor amongst the BOA ranks. They also said that they were proud to compete alongside a newcomer and just having the opportunity to compete in general. They love their organization. Not that I had any negative thoughts towards Bell before, but this really made me respect them more. I noticed people(just sitting in the stands and being around kids from other bands in general) don't think theyh have to work very hard. Gosh is that wrong. They were so freaking hard to be as good as they are. If everyone else spent less time bashing them and being jealous of them, perhaps they'd be able to work as hard and one day achieve the level Bell has risen to over the years.
  4. Very hard work, backed up by great technique. It's hard to find the two together.
  5. Berkner's guard was very impressive.
  6. I would think so. Just look at past scores from other years. I personally would attribute it to that whole feeling that.. Semis could be your last shot. Semis is really what sets up where placing are going to be in finals(usually they don't change to drastically). I remember as a performer, semis is where we laid it all out on the line. Our semis have always been our best performances.
  7. If only they had had the performance they had in semis.. in finals. I think they would have won.
  8. I'm really liking Newman Smith this year. I expect to see them in finals. Good luck to everyone in competition. You get to miss school and go on a trip FOR FREE!
  9. Yeah. I almost forgot about Bowie. And I def left Haltom off my Duncanville one.
  10. The show clearly had its problems though. But they have come a long way the past few years. Especially musically.
