  1. YES! I completely agree on Union 2017. I always go back and give it a watch because I enjoy the musical selections and just the vibe from the show in general. The Dies Irae in the opener, and the arrangement of On the Nature of Daylight in the ballad (to complement the vocal performance) are amazing to me. I'd like to hear On the Nature of Daylight in more shows honestly.
  2. Right!! I'm astonished by their placements at SA; I can only imagine how amazing the other groups sound live.
  3. I've unfortunately been unable to experience much bands beyond videos on YouTube, but from what I have experienced, I would say North Shore's 2019 exhibition performance concluding the UIL Area I competition. The top placing bands at the Lone Star Preview were incredible to watch as well, but North Shore just stood out that say at Area and it was a surreal experience. The wall of sound they created was like none-other (in context of what I have seen live).
  4. Vandegrift's ballad is incredible, and the soloist just leaves an amazing impact! Their show is definitely my favorite next to Reagan's this year!
  5. I absolutely love Leander's incorporation of Einstein on the Beach in their opener! It gives me chills every time.
  6. Well I just checked, and his channel no longer exists. It's quite the tragedy. That essentially wiped my watch history from all day.
  7. Were you watching on dan's channel because he had the full library and now I can't even find his channel?
  8. I didn't see Flower Mound, but still can't help but being shocked by their placement. Overjoyed to not only see Reagan as champion, but also break a record! I was definitely hoping to see Coppell and Cedar Park place higher.
  9. How did that happen??? Also, I can't say i'm surprised, but College Park at 51 disappointing.
  10. I completely agree about needing more finalist spots, and about both Magnolia and A&M deserving a spot in finals. At the same time, even as much as 1 more state advancing spot would've been great.
  11. I didn't get to see Magnolia perform, but I too was shocked at not hearing their name for finals. Did they have a satisfying run to their show?
  12. Avon is incredible, but I agree that the narration is extremely annoying.
  13. Tremendous feat from Willis earning 1st from all but one judge, Tomball was incredible so this was well deserved, and massive congratulations to Porter for taking their spot into state from a prelim's 5th!! I'm devastated about Galena Park, they were also incredible, unfortunately only 3 bands could qualify to advance.
  14. Area I bands advancing to 5A State- Champion - Willis 2nd - Tomball 3rd - Porter (after a broken tie with Galena Park)
  15. Incredible feat from Willis! I am overjoyed that Porter made it!! At the same time i'm devastated Galena Park didn't advance. I'll post preliminary scores just because... 1. Tomball 2. Willis 3. Galena Park 4. Crosby 5. Porter 6. College Station 7. Grand Oaks 8. Magnolia 9. A&M Consolidated 10. Dayton 11. Cleveland 12. Port-Neches Groves 13. Huntsville 14. Magnolia West 15. Vidor 16. Caney Creek 17. Kingwood Park 18. New Caney
  16. I was able to see some of the finalists bands and I thought... Crosby was definitely clean music and marching wise, first time I had seen them. The Also Sprach Zarathustra worked as a great opener with great dynamic contrast and balance and I loved the Romeo and Juliet rendition! The Elsa's Procession (I believe is what it was) brought the show to a great finish with great fundamentals as well. Their marching was very clean as always. Tomball's show was pleasant to watch as their uniforms and props gave a good aesthetic, but their marching (I think at least) was also clean and I enjoyed their drill. Sound wise, they were definitely of the most notable having a big sound and great woodwind moments. I definitely saw them in the top 3. Galena Park was incredible! I thought they had the best sound of all, having not only power but a high level of maturity and balance. Dynamic contrast was on point, and I can't get enough of that Mahler's 2nd in the beginning! Flute and sax soloists (I'm a little fuzzy on whether there was another soloist/s) were amazing. Their marching and visuals were overall very good as well, but hopefully they can kick it up a notch in finals. Definitely my favorite.
  17. I heard that these were the preliminary rankings for the finalists. I'm not 100% sure these are correct. Correct me if I mixed them up 1. Tomball 2. Willis 3. Galena Park 4. Crosby 5. Porter 6. Grand Oaks 7. College Station
  18. Congratulations to everyone who advanced!! I, however, was hoping that A&M Consolidated or Magnolia would make it through. Fingers crossed for Porter to make state!
  19. This contest will be all the more suspenseful now. Good Luck to everyone!
  20. Ohh, I see now. Well this has not only reduced Area I to 3 state advancing, but only a finals composed of 7 bands correct?
  21. What other band didn't qualify for Area? I only see that Rudder, Port Arthur Memorial, Lake Creek, and Montgomery didn't.
