  1. Arlington was phenomenal. Amazing run. Loved Lockport Townships show, super fresh take on vampires! And Amador Valley was beautiful. Holly Springs super emotional too. Great finish to finals.
  2. I have to say I adored Lexington. Incredibly tight and super unique show. I think I only saw one drop all weekend from them.
  3. Grand Oaks was fantastic! Congrats on an amazing season. Same for Azle. Thought they both had one of their better runs in finals.
  4. Grand Oaks was fantastic this morning! That score should be more than enough to put them in finals.
  5. Origins Open. Goosebumps. I love shows that are a love letter to the activity like that. Added narration/voiceovers from what I assume are various important voices in the development of WGI and performers HUGELY assisted the concept I got from the get go this season. Made it much more emotional, got me a little teary eyed.
  6. Lakeview Centennial is listed 5A in the music alignments that were released. I don't believe just because athletics opted up music has to as well, though I am not 100% sure on that. I don't see any downsides to competing in 5A for them in terms of fine arts. They had an impressive showing last year in 6A, should do very well in 5A.
  7. Figured I could make a topic on the changes to 4A, Areas B, C, and D are much different. A and E are relatively unchanged. Region 3 to Area C Region 5 to Area B Region *8 North to Area B Region *8 South to Area D Region 13 to Area D Region 17 to Area D Region 25 to Area C Region 30 to Area B Area's A and E are unchanged. Notable changes are Raymondville moving down to 3A and Alice moving up to 5A in Area E, but the areas contain the same regions. A should send 3-4 to state and E anywhere from 5-7. All of region 8 except for Jarrell, Madisonville, and Salado are now in Area B. Area B in terms of area finalists from last year includes Alvarado, Aubrey, Castleberry, China Spring, Gatesville, Panther Creek, Robinson, Springtown, Van Alstyne, and Wills Point. They combined the north part of old Area D with Area B and the Eastern parts of old Area B are now in Area C. This area should advance 5 bands to state. 5A to 4A reclassification moved Lake Dallas and Fort Worth Southwest down as well. The new Saginaw school will also be in this area. Very competitive. Area C is now incredibly competitive. And big. It should send 6-7 to state, and that's good because you've got Bridge City, Canton, Celina, Community, Farmersville, Little Cypress Mauriceville, Livingston, Lumberton, North Lamar, Paris, Pleasant Grove, Pine Tree, Sulphur Springs, and Sunnyvale that all made finals in their areas last year. That's pretty brutal. 8 of these bands went to state last year including Pine Tree in 5A who I'm sure will be competitive right off the bat in 4A. Area D should still send 4-5 to state but has definitely relaxed a little in depth. Burnet is the sole state qualifier left from old Area D. You've also got bands like Fredericksburg, Godley, Jarrell, Madisonville, and Taylor. The new Fort Bend and Liberty Hill schools will be in this area. State last year would have had one more band advance with these new numbers.
  8. Bellbrook had the run I thought this show had in it early on. I think they can make some moves.
  9. Dobyns-Bennett knows how to give me a sucker punch in the feels every year since we got back after covid. Their shows are super fun, a little kitschy in the best way possible, and incredibly entertaining. Just everything I love about the activity. Execution was a little off two weeks ago but they've improved a TON since then. Show is gonna cook in Dayton.
  10. Love love love Lockport Townships show. Nice twist on the vampire show, that flag reveal towards the end had me snatched 😳
  11. Thought Azle had the biggest improvement over yesterday, pretty stellar run. Grand Oaks, Coppell A, and Union also very good. I bet that's the top 4.
  12. I'm not surprised lol, just a heck of a number for being a few weeks out still. Love love love that Avon show.
  13. A lot of really off runs today creating some interesting results. Not surprised to see Coppell A on top after three rounds, one of the better runs today. Grand Oaks in second too, love the black sheep concept.
  14. I'm not sure how they'll handle that since they were set up on time and had a malfunction that was a risk to the performers that they had to fix. Doesn't happen very often.
  15. Clear Brook has evolved well, impressed at how this has grown.
  16. As a West Texas native and working here we desperately need something in our area. CCGC tried but went through a lot of different owners/organizers before it died off. A lot of the Permian basin groups are going to NTCA/TCGC so there is a market up here, at least for a NTCA sponsored show. There was a NTCA west event on their calendar in the fall and then that disappeared. You've got Permian, Odessa, Midland, Legacy, Frenship, San Angelo Central, Lubbock-Cooper, Lubbock, Coronado, and Monterey all with guards and most with at least 2, some 3. All of them are going to NTCA in DFW and doing very well in their classes, same with San Angelo Central in TCGC. West Plains has made the dive into NTCA this year. Canyon has a great winterguard program as well and I know Pecos, Andrews, and some other 4As have guards. One NTCA sponsored event a little farther west in Abilene/San Angelo/etc. would potentially do very well. And we would love it.
  17. Excited to see Holly Springs too. LOVED their Pinocchio show last year.
  18. Really liking some of the shows out west. El Dorado is super mature, LOVE the body and rifle opening. Arcadia is quirky but has some great moments. Lots to like in IW too. I think Fantasia medals. I'm always a little iffy on no flag but it's a beautifully crafted and emotional show and reminds me of their glory days. Vox Artium is a BLAST, the Bloody Mary flag feature is super fun.
  19. Was super impressed with Arlington and Billerica Memorial on Flo today. Billerica is always super simple but beautifully clear and pretty. Really liked the Lizzie Borden show from Arlington as well. Both should do really well down the road in Dayton. Have some thoughts on AMP and need to see Fusion develop. But strong scores today. Crazy that Noblesville started the season in Scholastic A. 3 points up on the field in Chicago prelims in Scholastic Open with an 82+. Their show is beautifully nuanced and crafted. Going to be stunning down the road.
  20. I agree, Bellbrook has a lot of potential down the stretch.
  21. If Bridgeland builds on or even just maintains what they did this year, I think they're a shoe in for finals. Show was super cleanly constructed and they performed the crap out of it.
  22. Pine Tree submitted enrollment in the 1,250s so they'll almost assuredly move down. They should compete very well in 4A, really enjoyed their show this year and seems like they are on an upswing.
  23. Not sure Pinstriped would have taken down IMO the most seamlessly designed high school show I have ever seen from Broken Arrow in 2021. But woulda been a good matchup.
