  1. Both Poteet and North Mesquite have actually had their enrollments decrease. Poteet from 1850 to 1650 and NM from 2850 to 2150. Both due to a new technical high school opening in MISD, and NM also had their attendance zone shrunk. Lastly, both have little land left in their zones to build housing so it's unlikely they'll move up to 6A ever again with the cutoff increasing every year.
  2. The Celina ISD asst superintendent said they plan to have 7-8 high schools with over 3K students. Prosper ISD plans to have 5-6 high schools .
  3. So I started this thread just so we could brag about our own bands show this year and maybe spread some love. I'll start with mine (Poteet) (4:20) This had to be my favorite show out of my 4 years. We've embraced change and are moving on up imo. I loved the technicality in the show for all sections and also loved the amount of sound we were able to produce this year. Wasn't the best recording b/c they wouldn't let us record in the press box so it's at a low-angle and the crowd noise is too much at times but arguably our best performance of the year.
  4. Nothing out yet but this is the best contest I've personally ever been to. Not a single band disappointed today in Prelims. I've got to say though that I'm kind of surprised Rowlett didn't make it into Finals, even with their director changes last year.
  5. So someone forgot to put the full results up on the website but here are awards and rankings. Gotta say that the judges were harsher than years past but still some really good bands again this year, please keep coming back Ratings(2).pdf Awards(3).pdf
  6. Good thing I've been at it for the past year then! Y'all were phenomenal at MMF on Saturday! Really loved the tarp!
  7. After today, all I can say is that Area C should be reeaalllyy good this year again, except it's 6A's turn
  8. What's the waitlist? Are they the bands that will only get to perform if one of the other bands with a slot can't go to the competition later on?
  9. Rocketfan86 also has every band throughout both days (I think he only recorded Prelims though)
  10. Either way you can't deny that some judges will give you a few extra points for just having visuals and props. I don't have any problem anymore with visuals and props, but when I see top notch programs only marching about 3 minutes of their show, that's when I get frustrated. You might not see any problem with that cause you were in LISD so you enjoyed all the successes, even retired 70-year-old judges know you guys are the best of the best, but when other bands are getting a much lower rating by younger judges who don't seem to realize that not every band likes to have theatricals in their shows and some have different style shows, something needs to be fixed. I'm not taking anything away from LISD by the way, I can honestly admit my band is nowhere near their level and they have some of the best band programs in the country. But when bands like mine are put anywhere from 1st-4th from most judges at some competition and then get 11th by one of the judges because he doesn't like our style* of show, I get pretty pissed.
  11. This contest and judges were such bull. Look at Centennial's music scores in Prelims: 27, 14, 2 Tell me at least one of those judges isn't holding a grudge. Look at the prelims scores, they're all over the place for a lot if not most bands. Nice to know that State* judges like to hold grudges and take it out on kids who have been working hard all year. My band didn't make Finals but that's not what I'm even mad about, it's the fact that these judges were so inconsistent.
