I have to say I am highly jealous of the bands going to BOA Grand Nat's from Texas this year and wish things would have worked out for Vista Ridge (my daughters band) to go as well.  She is a Sr. this year and my son graduated in 2016 so this year will be my 8th year with the program and we never got to go.

The VR kids are hyped up on the new show this year and are saying its going to be bigger and better than Lost and Found.   Would have been fun to take it to Grand Nat's and see what it could do!   I'll be watching the Texas 6 this year and will be screaming and rooting for all of you (but a bit extra for the LISD south schools)!

It is a great experience for the kids - one that I wish all kids could get a chance to experience -  I would say to parents - talk with the director, and understand what their goals are for the program. I was always pushing for a return trip to Indy as a parent as the program grew, I and many of our parents have always known what the goals are to build a bold and balanced program.   they made UIL state in the 3rd year of the program, attended GNats in the 4th year and made finals, in 2014 they attended the tournament of roses parade through an extensive application - not a Gnats bid.

Many parents were pushing for a return to Indy - but the leadership felt it was better to focus on more than just marching. The Winter Guard went on a win a silver Medal in Dayton, the band continues to grow in Honor band/concert band, had a record number of State musicians and will perform this year at the Midwest Clinic.

as discussed many times in the past - there is always the money factor - $400K investment for Indy and not meeting expectations will leave many parents sour on future trips

just my thoughts

A little off topic but I think the six Texas bands should talk in Southern accents and say y'all and howdy for fun when they go, bring a little Southern charm up to Indy.

Ha ha, that definitely won't be a problem for some of us seeing as how I already talk like that.

Quote from my wife after I read these to her..... "Please do."
