Stefen
Hey guys, so next year our school is getting our first marching dance company that will be in all our show. How much does a dance company add to a show? Does it help schools place higher? And we already have a colorgaurd but will the dance kids be using flags??

I’m excited to see what y’all do with that!!

He was referring to the unnecessary apostrophe you have in that statement, like a dance company possesses something. I.e “dance company’s staff” or something. I think he was just trying to make a joke lol. Samuel Culper

Dog885
In the past we had everyone in guard do swing flags, but then they were split by who wanted to do dance during the ballad, and those who wanted to do more flags like 6 foot flags. Those who chose to do dance always left the next year because that was the stepping stone towards drill team. Now we separated that part into pre drill and now (I think) everyone does most everything in guard.
justabandkid94
pretty sure Stephen F. Austin was the OG school to do this. Look up their 2003 show; iconic. Vandegrift does this extremely well right now, and have done so since they opened. Reagan does it beautifully as well but formerly had a normal guard. I believe they introduced it when their current head director was hired a few years back? Cool to see how schools are able to use dance teams to create a distinct visual program while also drawing on color guard elements to synergize the two approaches
