TWHS is 5-2. They lost their first 2 games and have won 5 straight in the district.

Oh, and the game the band didn’t attend they won by something like 45 points.

Sorry for the waaaay late reply. But yeah TWHS has always had a good football team in recent memory. When playing against them, it was never a matter of who was going to win, but by how much they would win by 😭
(Aaaand it was the same for marching band )

I honestly think that because TWHS is like the only good football team in the district that the board keeps wanting the band to skip contests for mere football games (BOA Conroe 🙄). If Conroe, Oak Ridge, or College Park had a schedule conflict, the board would be like, “ehhh, let them miss a game, the football team will lose regardless”.

Anderson is 5-3 right now, but I can bet we’re going to end with 5-5 because we play Westlake and Lake Travis next week and the week after

I am also a Football alumni parent as my son (who marched in the band as a freshman) played football for FMHS for four years.  I'm glad for support from band to football and football to band.  Anyhow to update the 6-6A standings:

Flower Mound 4-0 District; 5-2 overall

Lewisville 3-1 District; 5-2 overall

Coppell 3-1 District; 5-2 overall

Hebron 2-2 District; 4-3 overall

MacArthur 2-2 District; 4-3 overall

Marcus 2-2 District; 4-3 overall

Nimitz 0-4 District; 3-4 overall

Irving 0-4 District; 0-7 overall

If the season ended today, FMHS, Lewisville, Coppell, and Hebron would be in the playoffs

This is the first time EVER for Flower Mound to be in first place in the district this late into the season.

Last week's results:

Flower Mound outlasted Hebron 38-35
Coppell nipped FM Marcus 24-23
(I can verify that neither of the first two games had the bands perform at halftime, fans were disappointed)
Lewisville blasted Irving 61-10
MacArthur beat Nimitz 50-18

Games this week:
Flower Mound at Marcus for The Mound Showdown
Coppell vs Irving
Lewisville vs Nimitz
Hebron vs MacArthur

Here is your weekly District 6-6A recap.

Flower Mound beat Marcus 59-21 to win The Mound Showdown
Coppell beat Irving 48-13
Lewisville topped Nimitz 35-7

Hebron outlasted MacArthur 24-17

Standings:

*Flower Mound 5-0 District 6-2 overall

Lewisville 4-1 District  6-2 overall

Coppell 4-1 District 6-2 overall

Hebron 3-2 District 5-3 overall

MacArthur 2-3 District 4-4 overall

Marcus 2-3 District 4-4 overall

Nimitz 0-5 District 3-5 overall

Irving 0-5 District 0-8 overall
*-Clenched Playoff spot

Games this week 11/1 & 11/2:
Flower Mound at Coppell (the winner of this game is the likely District 6-6A champion)
Lewisville vs Hebron
Marcus vs MacArthur (loser is eliminated from the playoffs)
Irving vs Nimitz

Yes! This is the first time the Jags have been in the playoffs since my daughter's freshman year (she graduated in 2015).  We are in year three of Coach Basil, this is the first winning record since that playoff year in 2010 (where they got absolutely killed by the eventual champion Southlake Carroll 81-10 IIRC)

Princeton is currently 2-6 (1-4, 7-5A D2). I guess that is what happens in your first year in a higher conference. We beat 6A South Garland 45-6 and district opponent Frisco Memorial 55-0, but we have been terrible at all other games.

TWHS is now 6-2, and have qualified for the playoffs. They play Klein Collins on Friday with the winner winning the district. TWHS is 6-0 in district, Klein Collins is 6-1 in district (9 total teams in the district).

Vista's Football team are great band boosters :-)  Honestly, they really do support the band and the band supports them.  I remember two years ago when the band were the only ones in the stands during a downpour supporting the team and the football boosters kicked in money for nicer buses for the band competition.   This has been a very hard year for the football team.

That is VERY cool.  Poor kids.  I read a rant on Facebook recently of a Vista Ridge football mom.  She is definitely NOT happy with the coaching staff at Vista.  She might have said a few things that she'll regret later.

Oh boy.....  Football is weird at Vista.  Many times when a particularly talented player comes around he transfers to Cedar Park or they move to Lake Travis.  I couldn't imagine doing that IMHO, would you move so your trumpet player could play for a different band?

Well, VR has a great band program so there’s no need, but if my child was in a local school whose band program was subpar and I had the opportunity to move them to one of the Leander schools, I sure would!

When we moved here from out of state- the band program was the biggest reason we bought a house in the school zones we bought in. I can definitely see doing that for whatever extra curricular my child was in if there was a large difference between schools programs.

Cy-Fair, other than two bad games in the middle (that were losses) has their lowest margin of victory by 20 points (against TWHS), and are at 6-2 (4-2) with a +279 point margin... and currently third place in the district. Most of our players from our state championship last year were seniors, so it's been not quite as good of a season, but good nonetheless.

Allen beat Prosper tonight to win their 13th consecutive district championship.  As far as anyone in Allen is concerned, football season has 7 weeks left to go.

Just checking in, Madison is on a seven game win streak, is currently number one in the district with a district record of 6-0 and over all record of 7-2. This year is really exciting.

In 3-6A, Trinity is facing Richland this week after winning against Abilene last week, bringing their record to 7-1, with their one loss at Homecoming to Haltom.

Just checking in - Madison went undefeated in district (7-0) and finished the regular season 8-2. We won in the first round of the playoffs (35-7) with a near shutout, and now our win streak has been extended to 9 straight games. I’m excited for the second round of playoffs because I completely believe we can beat Lake Travis this year instead of getting blown out like the last two years. This has been an amazing season, and our team has come so far from the 0-10 season we had 3 years ago. Our seniors who went through that must be so proud of this team. Go football and go Mavericks. Kill it this weekend.

For anyone who wants to attend what looks to be a really good football game (and a band who is actually performing a show -albeit military marching- at halftime), the game is at 2:00 pm this Friday at New Braunfels (Cougar?) stadium.

Good luck to Madison on Friday! Y'all have a great defense. The perfect strength to take on Lake Travis. My Brandeis Broncos get Steele in the second round. We survive by simply scoring as many as we can and hoping it's more than the other team. Great offense and opportunistic defense is our winning formula.
