Bandnerd03
The top bands in Texas have become very equally skilled recently, and often placements can come down to show design or the most minute performance details. That got me thinking what would this year's BOA San Antonio Finals results look like if each band performed a different band's show? I figured this would be a fun talking point during the off season. How would Finals look if the shows were flipped? 1 for 14, 2 for 13, etc. CTJ performing Leander''s 2017 show Hebron performing Bowie's 2017 show Vandy performing Cedar Ridge's 2017 show Avon performing The Woodland's 2017 show Reagan performing Hendrickson's 2017 show FloMo performing Keller's 2017 show Marcus performing Cedar Park's 2017 show Cedar Park performing Marcus's 2017 show Keller performing FloMo's 2017 show Hendrickson performing Reagan's 2017 show The Woodland's performing Avon's 2017 show Cedar Ridge performing Vandy's 2017 show Bowie performing Hebron's 2017 show Leander performing CTJ's 2017 show
MadisonBandMan1
I feel like Leander would do well with CTJ's show, but they would have a really hard time matching their talent in the trombone section. Their soloist is a sophomore who made first chair all-state last year as a freshmen.
LostChoirGuy
My #1 thought is Hebron and Bowie are VERY different styles of bands. Loved them both but I dont think either group would do well with the other's show. I'll give some more thoughts later when its not midnight. Nny14
Based on this I think Avon would have won, since I think performance really hurt The Woodlands after losing that time. The difficulty of that show would have been right up Avon's alley. Marcus would also do very well with Cedar Parks show as it was very UIL oriented. LostChoirGuy
I was thinking the same thing. Most of these shows (rightfully so) were designed to highlight the strengths of each band. Few bands would do as well with another bands show, but I think Avon would have been excellent with The Woodlands show. Musically, the groups are comparable and I think that Avon could have mastered a difficult visual program that The Woodlands never quite cleaned fully. Reagan probably would have done well with Hendrickson's show and Vandy and Cedar Ridge's styles are similar enough that both would have done fairly well. I think the major crash and burns would be Keller (that show was too ambitious for FM, let alone Keller), Hebron (without the amazing musical program, their visual flaws would be extremely noticeable and the color guard just couldn't keep up with that show), and Bowie (the show would not have enough flair to make up for the struggles they would have technically with the music). I think Leander would do better, but ultimately couldn't clean such a huge show the way CTJ did. My rankings with the show they are performing in parenthesis: Avon (The Woodlands) Reagan (Hendrickson) Marcus (Cedar Park) Cedar Park (Marcus) Vandegrift (Cedar Ridge) Flower Mound (Keller) Hendrickson (Reagan) CTJ (Leander) The Woodlands (Avon) Cedar Ridge (Vandegrift) Leander (CTJ) Hebron (Bowie) Keller (Flower Mound) Bowie (Hebron)

I'm not disagreeing, just wondering why you think that. I agree with your rankings. Flower Mound looked to be struggling and Keller performing that show wouldn't have been good.
