zvchy Posted October 9, 2017 Report Share Posted October 9, 2017 Although they missed finals by .8 points, Hutto had an extremely strong showing this past weekend. They placed 11th in prelims, and beat out Connally, Bryan, and East View, all 3 of which Hutto has never beaten before and were ranked 8th for overall General Effect. I remember a few years ago that program finished 6th in the state with a gorgeous show. Anybody have any idea what is happening over there? I have not seen their show, but based on this result I would be wary. By my quick count, there are 36 5A bands in Area D (Regions 11, 12, 18, 26, 29 and 32). So that is a maximum of 7 slots for State, more likely 5 or 6. In my estimation... Locks: Cedar Park, Dripping Springs Next ones up: Georgetown, Rouse, McCallum Then: Hutto, Connally, McCollum Does Ann Richards compete at 5A for UIL??? If so, they could be in the mix as well.
