I'd put Oak Ridge, College Park, and Pearland in there as well.  Clements and SFA will be great.  Dawson has been up and down the past couple of seasons after several strong ones in a row.

Stephen F. Austin, Dawson, Clements take top three. The caption awards will be split between those three, I believe.

I agree with both of you and would add Clear Brook to the mix as well.

Personal thoughts.

SFA was phenomenal as usual. I want them to compete at a BOA super regional to see what they can do.

I am suprised to see Clements placed so low! They sounded great, maybe it was the marching?

Clear Brook, well deserved 2nd place. Their percussion was simply on point and I think that spread out to the rest of the band.

Seven Lakes's first impact was perhaps the highlight of my night. That show can definitely be something special.

Oak Ridge sounded beautiful throughout their show. Their opener sounded heavenly.

The Woodlands CP not making finals was the biggest question mark for me.

I believe that TWCP pulled out of the

contest because they don't have a prelims score either.

Some interesting things to note:

Clements's music scores are top tier, tying with SFA's in the music category in prelims. Their visual scores are severely tanking their placement. However, I believe that they'll improve as the season progresses.

Pearland dropped from 3rd in prelims to 6th in finals. Musically, they sounded great, but there were some issues with moving the props in their finals performance. Not quite sure what happened.

Conversely, Oak Ridge jumped to 3rd in finals. Congrats to them on a great finals run.

Clear Brook won percussion awards in prelims and finals, so props to their percussion staff.

Seven Lakes' music G.E. compensated for the major front-to-back timing issues that happened in their ballad. Their music scores in general were lower in finals. Loving the new uniforms though.

And of course, congrats to SFA for having a killer program and doing very well at this competition!

Next week at Conroe is sure to be interesting!
