2015 BOA San Antonio Predictions

Recommended Posts

Leander will only be performing in an unjudged exhibition during the judge's break at 1:15 to prepare for State. No evaluation, no chance at finals.

No way.  Wow.  They're a top 5 band!  I can't believe this.  Seems like a failure on BOA's part here.  Sad to see Dripping Springs and Anderson drop out as well.  Love their shows.  But Leander out?  <expletive deleted>

I do feel for the bands that won't get to be there though. I'm sure the people running the event have been working hard to figure this out all day but unfortunately they couldn't fit a few back in. I'm sure they could've done something else to fit them in tomorrow but like we know, marching band isn't fair

Yep.  Like not have a 6:45 before the crack of dawn performance time.

Or move local bands to early slots.

Or if bands have been lucky enough to have hotels tonight in San Antonio, ask them to perform earlier slots.

Dripping Springs:  Beautiful show.  One of my picks for finals.

Leander:  Their show is so KILLER!  Top 5.

I can't help but think that Dripping Springs and Leander might have made different choices if it wasn't a state year for them.  Maybe all the drama with the weather changes (Area D and now BOA) has caused a bit of fatigue in the organizations.

Does anyone know if Leander still plans to be at their football game?  That may have played a part in this too.  The game was rescheduled to 2 pm, so they could still make most of it, but probably wouldn't want to turn right back around to go to finals.

no I really don't think they have been working hard, they made no effort to shorten breaks or lunches or trade full retreat for a dm only retreat to save time. They have done nothing for me to give them any credit in this situation at all. Phone calls are great and all but when they yield no results and they sit back unwilling to take less than an hour lunch break, they have lost my respect completely

The fact a company named "Music for All" is giving minimal effort in letting these kids compete to the fullest is pretty absurd. I am very disappointed at the fact they are refusing to judge these bands because they are during a break and there has been no attempt at pushing the full retreat back in substitute for a DM retreat to make it short. Honestly a complete contradiction to the title of the company. What a huge let down they have allowed.

I wonder if we will ever know if they approached local bands and band staying in hotels tonight to see if they would be willing to go earlier so that the bands that have to drive a bit of distance could have a better shot of making it thanks to the weather...

Just woke up from my sleep, got a text that DS is back on for BOA, and considering we have to be at the band hall by 11am we must have a pretty late slot. There will be more updates on BOA scheduling tomorrow, and I'm hoping the organizers were able to give all the Austin bands a time slot as well.
