Avar1994 Posted October 28, 2013 Report Share Posted October 28, 2013 Not gonna lie... Lakeridge has got to be one of my new favorite bands. I've only seen an old video of em, and loved it. I can only imagine how good they did on Saturday. If anyone knows where a recent video of them is, can you share? If not, I can't wait to see them in San Antonio! Also congrats to the other bands, I only got to see a few, but I was extremely impressed with legacy! It is a challenging show along with playing blue shades. They don't do a whole lot of marching. I'm personally excited to see what Waxahachie, Friendswood, Vista Ridge, Dawson, and Vandergriff have to offer heading into San Antonio this year. It's going to be a fierce in the Alama Dome this year. You're right they're not marching. In the end it all comes down to who performs better. 100+ sets, marching at fast tempos, playing difficult music. UIL does take difficulty into account in the judging criteria in a multitude of ways and there hasn't been a band to win State in any classification that has easy drill nor easy music. That's more of a personal preference than my analysis of musicianship (although they are both outstanding bands). I think one thing about playing loud is that it is more difficult to balance.
